Warranty at USB storage? : CAN Infotech 2016
While visiting the CAN Infotech 2016, I came across a strange offer around some stalls. The offer was minimum 3 years of warranty on USB storage. Some stalls were even providing 5 years warranty. So are these offers really well?
BE SURE TO EJECT THE FLASH DRIVE SAFELY IF YOU HAVE CLAIMED THIS OFFER :D
These offers sound ridiculous and I am pretty sure that these are the ways to lure the customers. Ok let's suppose that those stores provide the warranty on the USB storage and other memory cards we buy at the event. How can we be sure that they will replace them with new one if there is some problem within the warranty period?
You might be thinking that they will repair the USB storage if it has some problems? I have never heard about repairing of the USB drives in my whole life. (*I might be wrong about this and if I am, please let me know in the comments. If any USB drive has problems, I think it's better to replace it with a new one.)
And finally what if they ask you the proof that it is the same device they sold you. A USB storage device has not got the unique IMEI number to identify it from others. May be they are willing to replace it but what are you supposed to do if they ask its identification??
It's really important to know the specs of the device than the offers they have. At present time, it's a better idea to buy the USB 3.0 than 2.0 because of its R/W speed. The 3.0 are expensive than the 2.0s but they are about 10 times faster in data transfer. Slow R/W speed in old versions of data storage device is the matter of headache.
So be smart, be updated. Cheers!!
*Disclaimer: No offence to the offers mentioned above. I just wrote about it because they sounded ridiculous.
