El Clásico

One the most watched football match between the Spanish giants and fierce rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid FC. The first El Clásico was recorded on 13 May 1902. Previously the match between these two giants in La Liga only was referred as  El Clásico but nowadays every other matches including league matches are considered as El Clásico. The promising El Clásico is watched by millions of people worldwide and we get to some beautiful football from the match.

FACTS:

• There have been 221 Clasicos since the first recorded match between the teams on 13 May 1902.
• Real have won 88 while Barca have won 86. The remaining 47 matches have ended in tie.
• 13 players have played from both Barca and Real in the  El Clásico.Some famous names in them are Luis Figo and current Barcelona coach Luis Enrique.
• The highest scorer in  El Clásico is Lionel Messi. He stands at the top with 21 goals i 29 matches.
  
• The game is one of the cultural events of the year in Palestine, surprisingly home to one of the largest mass of Barcelona supporters worldwide, with thousands expected to descend on the region's bars to watch the game. More from BBC News
• The biggest winning margin in a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid is 11-1. On 19th June 1943, Real defeated Barca by 11-1.
• Among current players, Xavi has the highest appeareances with 41.
• Very few players have been praised by the opponent supporters in El Clásico. Some names include Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho.
